The JT is where I had my start. Ranging from production assistant, ad designer, assistant art director, art director of special sections to finally, art direction, all from 2006 until Jan. 2018. The Baltimore Jewish Times was founded in 1919. Affectionately known locally as the JT. A powerhouse of Jewish journalism, earning national and international acclaim, today the JT is a cornerstone of the Jewish community, delivering in print and on the web, a wealth of important local, national and international news and opinion, plus entertaining features and profiles. Insider is a special section for the JT with editions ranging from: education, camps, senior living, spotlight on women, simchahs and weddings.
As art director of Baltimore STYLE, there is a lot that goes into choosing a subject/subject matter and exactly how to bring out the story. The process that goes into a photo shoot from picking locations; to discussions with the photographer and models on the look, feel and poses; and coordinating with the venues and the models/makeup artist/stylists were all handled by me as Art Director. These are some shots from various photo shoots for Baltimore STYLE.
A different experience with art directing a photographer and model that are underwear and you are above water! It was a fun day and I think the cover shot came out great. Photo by Chris Meyers
Needed a spring look and feel for our Spring 2019 fashion shoot. The problem was we were shooting in February, so I scouted for indoor spaces that would showcase a spring feeling and atmosphere. Shot at Hotel Revival Baltimore in the Garden Room.
Fall Fashion Baltimore Style October 2019. I wanted it to be outside, but still, but still have a fall-ish feel, since we shot this in summer. I decided Ladew Gardens would do. Flowers were still alive, but pasted peak bloom. Art Direction, location scout, and Stylist for this shoot.

Worked with a freelance Illustrator in Asia. Had to coordinate with the illustrator and send examples
and a vision board and be very descriptive with them and deal navigate time differences.

Baltimore Style 30th Anniversary Memory Board. I had the idea to create a wall with shelves for magazines to be displayed and we would use it as the two-page spread in the magazine. Myself and the photographer purchased wood and spray painted it and then we added the shelving.

Photo for the spring April 2019 Fashion cover with Baltimore Orioles player, Miguel Castro. One of my favorite shots.
My idea for a Staff pick Shelf Life which is Baltimore Style’s book review department page. I had the staff bring in a book that they liked and we each had to write our own descriptive blurbs about our choices.

Other projects ranging from various projects or personal design projects — from concept art for a fictional movie, imagining of movie genre stamps — to fan posters, gifts, etc.
A poster of Ludwig Mies van der Rohe architectural design of 860–880 Lake Shore Drive. The design mimics International Style architecture.
This is a student project depicting the nineteen art styles of the twentieth century, in the style of Russian Constructivism.
Student typeface project. Souvenir a disliked typeface, only eclipsed by Comic Sans! And so “Friends Don’t Let Friends … Set Souvenir!” was born.
A typographical poster of Tokio Hotel’s Phantomrider speech.
Star Wars fan project done as a gift. I do not own the rights to any of Star Wars or its character. All rights for characters belong to Disney, Lucasfilms, etc.
A student project. I decided to create film genre USPS stamp panels. Each genre would include six films that defined the genre. I tried to incorporate films from different decades from the 1920s through 1980s.
Student project to highlight and promote Station North, the Arts & Entertainment District located in the heart of Baltimore. It consists of multiple neighborhoods; it’s a diverse collection of artist live-work spaces, galleries, rowhomes, and businesses. There are now 22 Arts & Entertainment Districts in Maryland, and similar programs in dozens of states.
I decided to create a pretend movie that was to portray the life of a young man, whose family moves to Station North and all of his trials and tribulations. I wrote a synopsis of the film and created promotional pieces: a poster and a dvd, for the fake film.
